SEOUL, June 10 (Yonhap) -- "You have to go through hardships to become great."

 

Jensen Huang, chief executive officer of Nvidia, shared his philosophy that "failure leads to growth" on tvN's talk show "You Quiz on the Block," set to air Wednesday.

 

The appearance marks Huang's first-ever appearance on an entertainment program, both in South Korea and abroad.

 

On the show, Huang recounts his unlikely journey from immigrating to the United States at age 9 and washing dishes at a restaurant to leading one of the world's most valuable companies, whose market capitalization stands at roughly 8 quadrillion won (US$5.9 trillion).

 

He also reflects on Nvidia's early days, when the company had only 30 days left before bankruptcy, and recalls personally visiting Seoul's Yongsan electronics market to hand out business cards, highlighting the company's longstanding ties with South Korea.

Responding to questions submitted by former "You Quiz" guests, Huang reveals that he once lost all of his assets through stock investments and shares his views on the qualities needed to succeed in the era of artificial intelligence.

 

"No matter what you do, you should give it 100 percent," he says.

 

Huang, who recently drew attention for meetings with top South Korean business leaders during two visits to the country, also takes part in a balance game involving Lee Jae-yong of Samsung Electronics, Chung Euisun of Hyundai Motor Group and Chey Tae-won of SK Group, answering which executive he is closest to.

 

According to the production team, the episode also reveals Huang's personal side, including how he first flirted with his wife as part of a college assignment, his admiration for singer Hwasa and a dance performance to "Golden," an original soundtrack from the animated film "KPop Demon Hunters."

 

During the interview, Huang dubbed host Yoo Jae-suk the "MC champion," while Yoo affectionately referred to him as "hyung."

 

The episode of "You Quiz on the Block" will air at 8:45 p.m. Wednesday.
