'Drug abuse' singer B.I signs contract with U.S. management company

SEOUL, Feb. 17(Yonhap) – S. Korean singer B.I has signed a contract with the U.S. large entertainment management company Wasserman, according to the agency IOK Company on Feb. 17.

Wasserman is an agency that is in charge of famous global artists, such as Coldplay, Imagine Dragons, Ed Sheeran, and Skrillex. It is an influential agency in the U.S. entertainment industry and Tom Windish, who is in charge of Billie Eilish, will take charge of B.I, according to the agency.

B.I participated in “Grammy Global Spin” as the first K-pop artist last month.

"Grammy Global Spin" is one of the top 3 music awards in the United States and a series of performances designed by Grammy, which is considered as the prestigious music award, to promote various music and artists.

B.I was previously sentenced to 3 years behind bars and put under probation for 4 years for purchasing LSD, a type of marijuana and drugs, and using some of them(violation of the Narcotics Control Act) in September, 2021. The sentence was confirmed as the accused admitted all his crimes.

B.I released the first full album "WATERFALL" in November, 2021, which was 2 months after his conviction.
