SEOUL, Feb. 7(Yonhap) – S. Korean creature feature “Immortality” has come to an end with 5.1 percent in viewership.
The final episode of tvN’s weekend drama “Immortality,” which was aired on Feb. 6 at 9 p.m., recorded viewer rating of 5.1 percent, according to Nielsen Korea, a rating research company, on Monday.
In the last episode, Dan Hwal(Lee Jin-wook), who regained his memory of his past life, concluded 1,000 years of karma by ending his own life.
Dan Hwal and Min Sang-woon(Kwon Na-ra), who were reborn 50 years later, were fated to meet again at a house with memories and suggested the beginning of a new relationship.
“Immortality” formed a solid fandom as it depicts various traditional Korean monsters, including immortal souls that represent immortality, a demon that makes you see a fear-based illusion, and a monster that even eats humans with strong appetite.
In addition, as the characters intertwined with immortal souls continued to revive, they traveled back and forth from 1,000 years to the present, portraying characteristics of both historical and contemporary dramas into the work.
In particular, scenes with a setting of 600 or 1,000 years ago received favorable reviewes as they captured the northern part and beautiful scenery of the ancient Korean Peninsula.
The acting of the cast also stood out. The actors Lee Jin-wook, Kwon Na-ra, Lee Jun, Gong Seung-yeon, and Jeong Jin-yeong proficiently played different characters, going back and forth between their past and present lives.
However, although the drama drew attention by presenting splendid action scenes of catching monsters, it was evaluated that it did not fully utilize the generic features and strengths as it increased the narratives of romance.
Following “Immortality,” “Twenty-Five Twenty-One” starring Kim Tae-ri and Nam Joo-hyuk will be aired.
