Woong San presents 'K jazz'… to release new album 'Reminiscence of Love 2'

SEOUL, Jan. 18 (Yonhap) – S. Korean jazz vocalist Woong San will present a project album, which adds jazz melody to the popular songs that were loved by the public.

Woong San will release the second album “Reminiscence of Love 2” of the “Approaching Jazz Project” through diverse music platforms on Tuesday noon, according to Universal Music Group on Jan. 18.

Woong San’s “Approaching Jazz Project” is a project launched to popularize jazz. It is a system where you arrange songs that are well known to the public and add jazz melody to allow people to listen more easily.

The new album is a sequel to “Reminiscence of Love 1,” which was released in May, 2020.

Even though the arrangement of musical instruments was minimized, Woong San expressed fresh mood as she arranged it into a jazz style.

"My Heart is Lost,” sung by Choi Baek-ho, is reborn as a song “Lost In My Heart” with Woong San’s jazz melody, while Sanulrim’s “Reminiscence” transforms into “Memory,” which emphasizes the piano melody.

The singer explained about the project, "It is an album that emphasizes the excellence of K-pop, while discovering Korean jazz standards free of monotonous foreign jazz standards.”

Woong San, who debuted in 2004, made herself known as a representative “Jazz Diva” by showing diverse genres, including jazz standards, contemporary fusion jazz, Bossa nova, and folk jazz.

Woong San plans to release her full album in September, 2022.
