SEOUL, Dec. 18 (Yonhap) -- 

Actress Moon So-ri has been appointed as a goodwill ambassador for the United Nations World Food Programme (WFP).

 

The WFP held an appointment ceremony at The Plaza Hotel in Jung District, Seoul, on Wednesday, officially naming Moon as its goodwill ambassador.

 

Moon previously contributed her talent to WFP promotional videos and visited Kenya in October, where she observed food aid efforts at the Kakuma refugee camp and development programs in Nairobi and Lodwar.

 

“Seeing firsthand how many refugees are unable to receive even the most basic meals due to a lack of funding made me realize how urgently more attention is needed,” she said, explaining her decision to take on the role.
