SEOUL, Mar. 8 (Yonhap) -- Smilegate RPG announced on Tuesday that the number of global users of “Lost Ark,” a massively multiplayer online role-playing game(MMORPG) released on Feb. 11, surpassed 20 million in about 3 weeks. In particular, it also mentioned that it secured more than 10 million new users in Western markets, such as North America and Europe.

Lost Ark has maintained the highest number of a million simultaneous players on Steam, a global game distribution platform, for about 2 consecutive weeks since its launch.

Lost Ark recorded 81 points in "Metascore," which is a weighted average of reviews from game critics and publications around the world on a website called Metacritic, which aggregates reviews of diverse contents, including video games, films, and TV shows.

This is the best performances among Korean MMORPGs in history, according to the company. It also set high record of 82 points on “OpenCritic,” a review aggregation website for video games.

Ji Won-gil, CEO of Smilegate RPG, said, “Lost Ark has received favorable reviews from experts in terms of work performance and perfection, and new adventurers for the game are steadily increasing,” adding, "We will do our best to prove that Korean games can be recognized on the world stage."
