SEOUL April 21 (Yonhap) -- South Korean boy band "Vanner" has been named as a winner for the JTBC idol audition slash survival program "Peak Time" and was awarded with the prize money of 300 million won.

According to JTBC on April 20, Team “Vanner” set a spectacular stage with Ryan's song "Prime Time" in the final competition which aired onThursday.

Team “Vanner”, which was expected to be a strong candidate for the championship from the beginning, also showed stable live vocal skills and team unity that stood out throughout the final stage. Witty performances on the stage also played into a role of receiving positive reviews .

The winning team was selected by combining the real-time global voting, real-time text voting, and pre-global voting held for the duration of six days. Team “Vanner” received in total of 293,219 final votes.

Those who won the championship will receive the benefit of the prize money, global showcase, and album release.

Hye-sung, a member of Team “Vanner”, addressed, "I feel so honored and I finally feel like I'm fulfilling my duties as a son," adding, "I thank my parents so much. The best thing about 'Peak Time' is that I got to make so many unique and good friends."

At the beginning of the program, Team “Vanner” touched viewers' hearts by addressing that all of the members are working a part-time job at the moment to make a living while engaging in the program “Peak Time.”

The show “Peak Time" was designed to provide a stage for rookie idols and other idols who has been disbanded or cut off to have an opportunity to stand in front of the public once again.

Unlike the other survival programs, "Peak Time," which was held as a team match, drew favorable reviews by focusing on the enthusiasm of participants instead of emphasizing the rules and regulations or highlighting the conflicts between members.

However, compared to Mnet's "Boy's Planet" and MBC's "Boy Fantasy - After-School Excitement Season 2," which are broadcast during the same time, the ratings are low.

According to Nielsen Korea, a research company related to tv program viewing rate on April 20, the national average rating of the last episode of "Peak Time," which aired at 8:50 p.m. on Thursday, scored 0.5%.
