SEOUL, December 6 (Yonhap) -- Hanteo Global who holds the Korean music chart Hanteo chart released the Korean annual album sales "Top 10" after 1993 on Tuesday.

 

According to this chart, the second album "Anyhow Song" released by Seotaeji and the Boys which showed great popularity topped the album sales in 1993 with 2.13 copies of sales. Hanteo Global explained about this album, "This is officially the first Korean album that sold more than 2 million copies."

 

In the same year, Shin Seung-hun's third album "Because I Love You" sold 1.73 million copies, and Kim Jong-seo's second album "PETSDN2" sold 1.34 million copies. 

 

In 1995, "Wrong Meeting" and "Beautiful Goodbye," tracked in Kim Gun-mo's third album gained high popularity and recorded a high sales of 2.86 million copies.

 

Hanteo Global released its annual "Top 10" based on a single album in the 1990s and singers after the 2000s.

 

SG Wannabe topped throughout the whole three years in 2005~2007, the mid of 2000s when R&B songs were more popular than dance music. And in 2009~2010 SNSD, 2011~2012 Super Junior, 2013-2015~2016 topped the chart and they brought the idol groups popularity back. 

 

BTS topped the chart since 2017 for five consecutive years until now proving their world star popularity. BTS sold 7.23 million copies of their albums on in 2020, thrice the copies of SEVENTEEN, the group who sold 2.19 copies of their album ranking the second. 

 

Hanteo Global will also hold its first offline award ceremony. the "30th Anniversary Hanteo Music Awards 2022" at Jamsil Indoor Gymnasium in Seoul from February 10 to 11 of 2023 to mark the 30th anniversary of the chart.
