SEOUL, Mar. 27 (Yonhap) -- Kakao Corp. will drop its first-ever animated series “My Heart Is Muji’ using its Kakao Friends characters on the Tooniverse channel on April 1, the South Korean tech giant confirmed Monday.

The animated series has been produced to help children aged 3 to 5 understand and express emotions. Children will be able to comprehend and appropriately express their emotions by watching Kakao Friends feel diverse emotions, ranging from excitement and joy to fear and disappointment.

The tech giant is also gearing up to showcase a brand-new character “Kakao Friends Kids” for the very first time in this upcoming animated series.

Unlike the other Kakao Friends characters, the new character is expected to draw attention among children users with its large eyes. Meanwhile, South Korea’s platform giant will also showcase Muji’s younger brother “Mujjing” and Jay-Z’s twin sister “Hatataj” for the first time.

The tech giant gathered pre-eminent directors and advisors to participate and join hands during the two-year-long production. Director Oh Seo-ro, the winner of the International Animation Festival, was in charge of the overall production based on screenwriter Shin Hae-gang’s script. Shin has made himself known by writing a number of hit animated scenarios, including “Tayo” and “Ttobot V.” Along with this powerful duo, producer Park Moon-chi also participated in the production. The final work was consulted by a child psychology expert Chung Yoo-jin.

This six-episode-long animated series will unveil a 26-minute-long episode every Saturday at 8 p.m. (KST). In the meantime, Kakao also opened a YouTube kids channel “My Heart Is Muji” on the same day, where the firm will release the short animation “Dodo Chunsik” on Apr. 11.

Ko Shin-woo, the head of the Kakao IP Business Development Team, said, “‘My Heart Is Muji’ is expected to give a fillip to the development of the emotional cognitive ability of children who went through the COVID-19 pandemic,” adding, “I hope children may grow into strong-minded people by watching our new animated series.”
