SEOUL, May 21 (Yonhap) -- K-beauty sections will be introduced at Seven-Eleven Japan convenience stores across Japan starting in September, eBay Japan said Wednesday.
The company said its online marketplace Qoo10 Japan will collaborate with Seven-Eleven Japan to launch a K-beauty section branded "Qoo10 Pick" at Seven-Eleven stores nationwide beginning in September.
The rollout will cover nearly all Seven-Eleven locations across Japan, excluding some stores.
The dedicated section will feature a curated selection of popular K-beauty brands sold on Qoo10 Japan, allowing consumers to purchase trending Korean beauty products offline after discovering them online.
Qoo10 Japan has been conducting test sales since September last year at selected Seven-Eleven stores in Japan, offering 24 products from eight brands.
Based on the results of the yearlong pilot program, the company plans to officially launch Qoo10 Pick in late September.
The section will feature exclusive mini-size items and products available in special colors.
Brands scheduled to be sold through the project include Skin&Lab, Growus, 23yearsold, Parnell, AOU, Centellian24, SKIN1004 and Tiptow.
Kim Soo-ah, head of the Korea business division at eBay Japan, said the company decided to expand into convenience stores as more consumers seek opportunities to directly experience a wider variety of K-beauty products.
