SEOUL, March 12 (Yonhap) -- K-pop vocal group SeeYa will reunite as a full trio for the first time in 15 years to mark the 20th anniversary of its debut, the group said Thursday.
The group announced its reunion along with plans to release a pre-release song later this month, hold a fan meeting and drop a full-length album in May.
The trio — Nam Gyu-ri, Kim Yeon-ji and Lee Boram — said they decided to reunite for fans in the meaningful year marking the group’s 20th anniversary.
"With SeeYa’s 20th anniversary approaching, we came together again with one shared feeling for our fans," the members said. "Through many conversations, we decided to repay the fans who have waited for us over the past 20 years."
They added that the reunion represents more than a nostalgic return.
"This reunion is not simply about revisiting memories, but about a new beginning as artists," they said. "Rather than following past formulas for success or decisions made by others, we want to present SeeYa’s own music that we truly want to create."
The reunion marks the group’s first full-member comeback since its disbandment in 2011.
SeeYa debuted in March 2006 and gained widespread popularity with powerful vocals and hit songs such as "Scent of a Woman," "Love’s Greeting" and "A Crazy Love Song."
The group won rookie awards, including at the Seoul Music Awards in its debut year, and later received a main prize in the digital music category at the Golden Disc Awards in 2007.
Although the three members are currently signed to different agencies, they established a project corporation named SeeYa to manage their group activities.
The group will release a ballad reflecting its signature emotional style as a pre-release track later this month, followed by a full-length album in May produced with composers Park Geun-tae and Kim Do-hoon, who worked with the group during its peak years.
