SEOUL, March 9 (Yonhap) -- The office comedy series “Undercover Miss Hong,” set in Yeouido in 1997, wrapped up its run with a viewership rating in the 12 percent range.
According to ratings tracker Nielsen Korea on Sunday, the final episode (Episode 16) of the tvN weekend drama recorded a nationwide rating of 12.4 percent the previous day.
The last episode depicted protagonist Hong Geum-bo, played by Park Shin-hye, and her colleagues from the so-called “Yeouido Pirates” bringing down the villainous chairman Kang Pil-beom of Hanmin Securities, portrayed by Lee Deok-hwa, delivering a classic good-triumphs-over-evil ending.
During the trial over slush fund embezzlement, Hong secured the upper hand with testimony from a key witness. Ultimately, Chairman Kang and Bong Dal-su, played by Kim Roe-ha—the mastermind behind a tragic incident—were brought to justice.
The story then jumped ahead one year, showing the characters growing along different paths. Hong embarks on another undercover mission to solve an insurance fraud case, while her former dormitory roommates move on to new lives, including running a private investigation office, studying abroad and earning promotions.
The drama was praised for its fresh premise — an elite financial supervisor who erases her career history to go undercover as a low-level employee at a securities firm — as well as Park’s performance, which brought depth to the character.
Viewership also rose steadily throughout the series. It began with a 3.5 percent rating for its first episode but consistently stayed in the double digits toward the latter half of the run before concluding.
