SEOUL, August 21 (Yonhap) -- The Korean representative selection contest in the coffee field will be held in Gangneung, the coffee city.

Gangneung Culture & Arts Foundation announced on Friday that the Korea Brewers Cup Championship will be held indoors at the Gangneung Arena during the 14th Gangneung Coffee Festival (October 7-10).

The competition allows the use of all coffee brewing equipment except for the espresso machine, and has to provide 3 cups of coffee for a total of 10 minutes. The barista will need to provide information on the coffee that they have prepared, its extraction method, and the coffee flavor.

This competition is hosted by the Korea Chapter of the Specialty Coffee Association (SCA).

In this year's coffee festival, along with the Korea Brewers Cup Championship, the Korea Roasting Championship, Gangneung Coffee Hand Drip Award, Gangneung Coffee Festival Siphonist Championship, Gangneung Barista Award, and Gangneung Da Vinci Beverage Recipe, will be held at the Gangneung Arena, the festival venue.

The Coffee Awards, which competes the skills of coffee experts, have become another interesting attraction for coffee experts as well as for the participants.
