SEOUL, Nov. 18 (Yonhap) -- Japanese film director Hirokazu Koreeda who directed the movie "Broker" received the "Vision in Film Award" at the 42nd Hawaii International Film Festival.

This accolade is a special award given to a director or organization that has made distinguishable achievements. It has been awarded six times at the Hawaii Film Festival over the past 42 years, and past winners include directors Lian, Yi-Mou Zhang, and the American Film Institute (AFI).

Director said, "I think this will be a precious memory that I will not forget for a long time. I have been working at film directing for a long time, and I am happy that I am prepared to receive this award. I will continue to work hard."

The Hawaii Film Festival is a film festival held for cultural exchange between North America, Asia, and the Pacific region. 'Broker' was selected as the closing film of this year's film festival.
