The relationship of mother and daughter, Sookyung (Yang Mal-bok) and Leejung (Im Ji-ho), can not fall out more.
Sookyung is a mother careless enough to not know when her daughter's graduation is, yet she still wants to be understood and appreciated for the sacrifices she made raising Leejung at a young age.
Leejung who believes that she did not receive love she deserves from mother blames all the problems in her life to Sookyung.
Movie "The Apartment with Two Women" precisely depicted the process of mother and daughter, who wanted understanding and love from each other, becoming independent.
They share underwears but do not know what is in each other heaarts; they live in the state of not entirely hating or loving each other, or perfectly together or separate.
However, their long-upspoken wounds burst when Leejung walks out of the car after an argument, and Sooyoung hits her with the car. Sookyung says it was the abrupt acceleration but Leejung believes it was intentional.
They naturally turn their heads to others for the understanding and attention they could not receive from each other. Sookyung falls in love with Jongyeol who always takes her side no matter what, while Leejung becomes friendly with co-worker Sohee by sharing something deep inside her heart. But both fall in despair when even these relationships do not work out.
Director added universality by presenting human relationship through untypical mother-and-daughter relationship.
Director's keen eyes were recognized at distinguished film festivals, both at home and abroad. Although this is director Kim Sae-in's first full-length film, she won five awards from 26th Busan International Film Festival, favorably commented. "I believe that incomprehensible things happen due to reasons such as lack of system, not becuase of a responsibilty or problem of an individual. I thought that what happens to them was not because they were weired, bad-tempered, and shy. I created the film thinking that if I display characters charimly, audienceswould understand why they had to act like that."
