SEOUL, June 19 (Yonhap) --BLACKPINK's “Kill This Love” music video has surpassed 1.6 billion views on YouTube.
According to YG Entertainment on Sunday, the music video for “Kill This Love” surpassed 1.6 billion YouTube views at 3:17 a.m. on the same day. It has been about 3 years and 2 months since the video was first released.
With this, BLACKPINK now has two music videos with more than 1.6 billion views, following “DDU-DU DDU-DU.” “DDU-DU DDU-DU,” which was the first music video for a K-pop group to reach 1.7 billion views, is currently approaching the record of 1.9 billion views.
Released in April 2019, “Kill This Love” is a song with the famous gun dance and received attention for the charismatic choreography and expression along with the fancy video.
This song was the only K-pop song to be named in the “Top 10 Most Viewed Music Videos in the World” that year, and was ranked 41st on the “Hot 100,” the main single chart of the US Billboard, setting up a record for the K-pop girl group.
The group currently has the most YouTube subscribers (74.8 million) among artists worldwide.
Among the videos released through their official YouTube channel, there are a total of 32 content that recorded billions of views, and the cumulative number of views is more than 24 billion.
BLACKPINK, which debuted on August 2016, is a girl group consisting of four members, namely Jennie, Jisoo, Rosé, and Lisa.
BLACKPINK, who have especially exerted a strong influence on YouTube have built up fandoms all around the world, with each member performing solo activities with their distinct personalities.
