SEOUL, June 30 (Yonhap) -- South Korea's SMEs ministry and the South Korean Embassy in Saudi Arabia said Tuesday they are accepting applications for a new program to help K-beauty small and medium-sized enterprises expand into the Saudi market.

Selected companies will receive support for entering online and offline retail stores, product promotion and marketing, and consultations on complying with local government regulations through visits to Saudi retailers and government agencies.

More than 20 Saudi distribution companies, including Whites, the country's largest beauty and wellness retail network, are scheduled to visit South Korea to select participating firms directly.

Eligible applicants are SMEs holding either a cosmetic responsible distributor registration certificate or a cosmetic manufacturer registration certificate. Applications will be accepted through July 23.

Shim Jae-yoon, director general for global growth policy at the Ministry of SMEs and Startups, said he hopes the initiative will serve as a springboard for expanding the K-beauty boom across the Middle East.
