SEOUL, May 13 (Yonhap) -- Actor Um Ki-joon, 48, is set to tie the knot with his non-celebrity fiancée at the end of this year, his management said on the 13th.
Your Entertainment stated in a press release, "Um Ki-joon plans to hold a private wedding ceremony with his non-celebrity bride in December." Details regarding the prospective bride and the exact wedding date have not been disclosed.
Um Ki-joon himself took to social media on the same day, sharing a handwritten letter expressing his sentiments. He wrote, "I never thought I would encounter a lifelong connection," and continued, "But I've met someone warm-hearted and considerate, and together, we embark on a new chapter of life through marriage."
Addressing his fandom, known as "Jikiri," he expressed gratitude for their unwavering support and vowed to reciprocate their love by continuing to do his best.
Debuting in 1995 with the play 'Richard III,' Um Ki-joon has been actively involved in various dramas such as 'Dream High' (2011), 'Phantom' (2012), 'Innocent Defendant' (2017), and 'The Penthouse' (2020-2021).
Particularly acclaimed for his performance in "The Penthouse," he received the Best Actor award in the Male Mid-Length Drama category at the 2020 SBS Drama Awards and the Best Actor award at the 34th Grimae Awards in 2021.
Currently, Um Ki-joon is portraying the antagonist Matthew Lee in the SBS thriller series "The Escape of the Seven: Resurrection."
