SEOUL, June 30 (Yonhap) -- Actress Jang Seo-hee will return to KBS dramas for the first time in 12 years.
South Korean TV broadcaster KBS said Tuesday that its new weekday drama "Trap of Desire," starring Jang, will premiere on KBS 2TV in August.
The series is a revenge drama about a woman whose life is destroyed after she is falsely accused of murder and who fights back against overwhelming greed. Jang will play Joo Mi-ran, the public relations chief of the Cheongma Scholarship Foundation, a ruthless villain willing to do anything to satisfy her ambition.
Jang previously earned the nickname "queen of daily dramas" after winning top acting honors at MBC and SBS for her leading roles in "Miss Mermaid" and "Temptation of Wife," respectively.
"Trap of Desire" marks Jang's first daily drama in three years since the conclusion of MBC's "The Witch's Game" in 2023 and her first KBS drama in 12 years since the 2014 weekday series "Cuckoo Nest."
The drama is directed by Lee Dae-kyung, whose previous works include "Youth of May" and "Drama Special 2023: Shadow Confession," and written by Koo Ji-won, known for "Bravo, My Life" and "Home for Summer."
