GANGNEUNG, Oct. 29 (Yonhap) -- The Gangneung-daedohobu Government Office has generated buzz after it was used to hold the ongoing Gangneung International Film Festival (GIFF) 2021.
The Gangneung-daedohobu Government Office, a cultural property designated as a Historic Site No. 388, was known to house central government officers who visited Gangneuneg from the Goryeo Dynasty to the Joseon Dynasty. The guesthouse was built in 936, the 19th year of the reign of King Taejo of the Goryeo Dynasty, and had 83 lodges. However, now only the gate of the guesthouse, Gaeksamun Gate, remains as the National Treasure No.51.
During the GIFF 2021, which is held between Oct. 22-31, the historic building has transformed into a movie theater and venue.
A special screening of "One Fine Spring Day" will be held at the venue to celebrate the 20th anniversary of the film as well as a "Gwana Stage," where audiences can meet performances fo young artists full of talent.
In addition, various events such as exhibitions, video production programs for children, photo event "GIFF BOX," and a book yard will be held.
