SEOUL October 22 (Yonhap) -- Bulgarian State Ballet Varna with 75 years of history will be performing in South Korea for the first time.
According to the concert planning company Bravocomm on Tuesday, Bulgarian State Ballet Varna will start off their performance in South Korea starting on December 6 through 8 at Mapo Art Center located in Seoul and continue on with their performance in Daegu on December 9 to 11, Geoje on December 12 and 13, Soocheon on 16 and 17, Andong on 18, Gumi in 20, Iksan on December 22 and 23, and Mokpo on Christmas eve and the day of Christmas.
Bulgarian State Ballet Varna will be performing one of the three highly praised ballet master piece “Swan Lake,” and one of the go to performance piece during winter “The Nutcracker” throughout their performances.
Originated from a port city Varna, Bulgaria, State Ballet Varna was formed in 1947, Varna is a city known for hosting one of four highly decorated and oldest ballet competitions “Varna International Ballet Competition.” South Korean ballerina Park Sae-eun, Kim Ki-min and more has been awarded with the first prize and the gold medal.
Bulgarian State Ballet Varna created in 1964 was led by two of the lead choreographer who helped out forming the National Ballet Varna, from 1960 to 1985. Starting on 2014, newly appointed art director is leading the organization and it is serving as a resident performance team of the National Theater of Varna.
