TREASURE 'THE SECOND STEP' tops iTunes album charts in 30 countries

SEOUL, Feb. 16(Yonhap) – K-pop boy group TREASURE’s new album, which was released in about a year, has topped the iTunes album charts in 30 countries.

“THE SECOND STEP : CHAPTER ONE,” which was released on Feb. 15, has ranked No. 1 on iTunes album charts in 30 countries, including Japan, Australia, Brazil, India, Mexico, Canada, and Russia, according to the agency YG Entertainment on Wednesday.

The album also ranked No. 4 on the U.S. chart, the world's largest pop music market.

YG explained, "The U.S. accounted for more than 20% of the total album sales by today’s standards, exceeding the popularity in Asian countries."

The title song "JIKJIN" from the album is making good performances on domestic and foreign music charts.

Since its release on Tuesday at 6 p.m., the song has topped the real-time chart on Bugs while other songs have also ranked second to fourth. According to the chart on Wednesday at 9 a.m., "JIKJIN” is also ranking No. 1 on the chart.

In particular, the song topped the TOP 100 charts on Line Music in Japan in real time.

The staff from YG said, "The music video of “JIKJIN” has nearly reached 8 million views in just half a day since it was released on YouTube. The tendency is more than twice as fast as the number of views that was previously announced.”

TREASURE is a 12-member boy group debuted in August, 2020, and 4 out of 12 members are from Japan.

The group, which has consistently formed a fandom by releasing 4 consecutive albums of the “THE FIRST STEP” series for 5 months since the debut, will hold their first concert in April.
