SEOUL, Feb. 3 (Yonhap) - Kakao Entertainment is jumping into the production of videos such as large OTT dramas and movies, including its story intellectual property (IP) imaging.

 

Kakao Entertainment has announced on Thursday that there will be a total of 30 dramas and movies planned and produced by its subsidiaries, Baram Pictures, Sanai Pictures, and Zip Cinema this year.

 

First of all, Kakao Entertainment is producing several dramas based on its story IP.

 

Baram Pictures will work with Arc Media to co-produce the webtoon "Namnam" into a drama.

 

“Namnam” is a webtoon about a mother-daughter relationship that wants to be separated but cannot be separated, and was serialized in Kakao Webtoon between 2019 and 2022.

 

In the drama of the same name, actor Jeon Hye-jin plays Eun-mi, a young and unresponsive mother, and Choi Sooyoung plays Jin-hee, a cool daughter.

 

The academy romance webtoon "Borrowed Body," which changes the bodies of the student who is an outsider and student who is very popular and outgoing in high school and the webtoon "Aquaman," which features a person, who has never been in a romantic relationship, will also be made into a drama.

 

It will also introduce blockbusters to large OTTs.

 

Netflix series "Gyeongseong Creature" and "Song of the Bandits" are representative.

 

"Gyeongseong Creature" is a thriller drama about confronting monsters in Korea in 1945. Park Seo Jun and Han Sohee will appear. Kakao Entertainment and Studio Dragon have been co-produced, and production has been confirmed until season 2.

 

"Song of the Bandit” is an action play set in Gando. Kim Nam-gil and Seohyun were casted. It is co-produced by Baram Pictures and Urban Works.

 

The Netflix movie "The Race" depicts the match between Korean Go legends Cho Hoon-hyun and Lee Chang-ho. Lee Byung-hun and Yoo Ah-in will appear. It was produced by Moonlight Film, a subsidiary of Kakao Entertainment.

 

Disney Plus's original "Race" is co-produced by Baram Pictures and Slingshot Studios. It is about Park Yoon-jo, who moved to the public relations office of a large company, meeting the pacemaker. Lee Yeonhee, Hong Jong-hyun, and Moon Sori appear on the film.

 

Disney+ will also release the crime action drama "The Worst of Evil" to catch the drug trade organization between Korea, China, and Japan. Sanai Pictures and Baram Pictures are in charge of the production together.

 

As a TV drama, tvN's "Our Blooming Youth" is to air for the first time on the 6th, and SBS's "The First Responders" season 2 is also being produced.

 

They are also preparing to meet cinema audiences.

 

Expectations include "Hwaran," a noir genre starring Song Joong-ki produced by Sanai Pictures, "Cross," an action film in which Hwang Jung-min and Yum Jungah appears, and "Night Travel" (tentative title) starring Ha Jung-woo and Kim Nam-gil.
