SEOUL, Jan. 14 (Yonhap) – The singer and actor Kim Yo-han(23), who played the role of Gong Ki-joon from KBS 2TV Wednesday and Thursday drama “School 2021,” has delivered his feelings of ending the show.
The actor, who made a debut in terrestrial TV dramas through “School 2021,” said, "There was a great burden, but I think the pressure disappeared little by little as I started shooting and the atmosphere of the field became better," adding, "I was encouraged by keep telling myself ‘I can do it’ since I could not concentrate when I’m intimated.”
Kim Yo-han, who had complications of testing positive for COVID-19 ahead of the first broadcast of the drama, recalled, "I think I comforted myself to do my best in acting rather than being anxious."
“School 2021,” the eighth "School" series revealed by KBS, received favorable reviews for depicting the story of teenagers following their dream of carpentry, other than competing for college entrance examinations in the background of specialized high school.
Kim Yo-han played Gong Ki-joon, who gave up his long dream of becoming a Taekwondo player and wandered around. The drama showed the growth of the character as he met friends and teachers, including Jin Ji-won(Jo Yi-hyun), who challenged carpentry solely to make money.
Kim Yo-han said, "I took efforts to delicately express complex and slight emotions, such as Ki-joon's pain and happiness," adding, "There were things I haven't experienced, but I was able to express it more delicately based on my experience, and I grew a lot during the process."
The most memorable scene was the part where I fought with Jung Young-joo (Choo Yeong-woo) on the beach.
"I think it was the hardest shooting from ‘School 2021.’" It was more memorable because we filmed the scene in cold weather and I poured out emotions that had not been released with Young-joo.”
In addition, the actor thanked his fellow actors, saying that most of the cast, including Jo Yi-hyun, Choo Yeong-woo, and Hwang Bo Reum Byul, were all the same age as him, born in 1999, so he could have more fun while filming.
"Yi-hyun is so kind and such a good actress who led me. Same goes for Yeong-woo. Since we are all the same age, we got close very fast and filmed happily. I also thank so much to the actors Jeon Seok-ho and Park In-hwan. They gave me a lot of help by always comforting me and giving me trustworthy advice, saying, "You're doing well.”
