SEOUL, Aug. 19 (Yonhap) -- Ryu Hyun-jin (34) of the Toronto Blue Jays is set to be back on mound in one week aiming for 12th win of the season.

Ryu has been selected as the pitcher for the 22nd game against Detroit Tigers, according to the Blue Jays Thursday (Korea time).

The game is to be held in Rogers Center, Ontario, Canada at 4:07 a.m. on the 22nd.

The pitcher was charged with one loss during two mounds after his 11th winning during the season against Cleveland Indians on the 4th of August.

Against Boston Red Sox, Ryu left the mound early for allowing 7 points and 10 base hits to the opponents in 3⅔inning on the 9th.

He became a losing pitcher after letting 4 points in 6⅓ inning to Seattle Mariners, Aug. 15. Although he kicked off as a winning pitcher, he finished the game as a losing pitcher after the relief pitcher’s giving in to a game-changing home run.

Against Detroit, Ryu has stood on mount 2 times with 1 loss in total, recording 8.59 ERA (Earned Run Average).

The mounts were made in 2014 and 2017 respectively during his times as a Los Angeles Dodgers pitcher. Also, the record is meaningless as Detroit is a team with 58 wins and 63 losses marking around 50 percent of winning rate.

Ryu’s focus is on one point.

Leading the team to victory with stable pitching in front of his home fans.

Ryu must wash off his worst performance against Boston, his recent opponent.

As the Blue Jays is short of 1 win for being pushed back to 4th place among the American leagues’ wild cards ranking, Ryu is feeling responsibility as the starter to lead the team to victory.

If Ryu manages to make it to the 12th victory, the league will tie for 1st place for many wins.
