SEOUL, Aug. 14 (Yonhap) -- Netflix's new original TV series "Hellbound" has become the first Korean drama to enter the Toronto International Film Festival.

"Hellbound," directed by film director Yeon Sang-ho, has been invited to the "Primetime" category of the 46th Toronto International Film Festival, announced Netflix on Saturday.

"Hellbound" depicts a chaotic situation after people hearing predictions of when they will die. As people are sentenced to go to hell from grim reapers, others try to reveal the truth of a religious group called Saejinrihwe. Director Yeon Sang-ho, who has directed films "Train to Busan" and "Peninsula," and screen writer Choe Gyu-seok of "Awl," were in charge of creating the show while actors Yoo Ah-in, Park Jung-min, Kim Hyun-joo and Won Jin-a are part of the cast members.

The Toronto International Film Festival is the largest film festival in North America, and the "Primetime" category was established in 2015 to introduce works by creators crossing the boundaries between TV and film.
