SEOUL, August 11(Yonhap) -- Pianist Lim Yunchan (18, Korea National University of Arts) met the audience on the domestic stage for the first time in about two months after winning the Van Cliburn International Piano Competition.

On Wednesday evening, at "BACH PLUS," a special performance held at Lotte Concert Hall in Seoul, Lim Yunchan played Bach: Piano Concerto No.5 In F Minor along with Collegium Musicum Seoul.

Lim Yunchan, who entered the Lotte Concert Hall with cheers from the audience, responded to the love of domestic fans with a careful yet passionate performance. As encore pieces, he performed Sarabande Partita no:1 J.S. Bach and Brahms' Ballade No. 2.

Lim Yunchan has expressed his reverence for Johann Sebastian Bach, the theme of the concert, on several occasions. At the 16th Van Cliburn Competition, which he won in June, in the second round of Bach, Scriabin, and Chopin's songs, he was seen remaining silent for 90 seconds after playing his first song, Bach.

"When I played the first song, Bach, I played as if I was giving my soul. It was difficult to play such noble music and go straight to Scriabin which is why I took some time," Lim Yunchan said on the press conference of his arrival to South Korea.

On this day, Lim Yunchan's agency, Moc Production, gathered its performers to commemorate the 15th anniversary of its founding and performed on stage, after the performance of Sohn Min-soo, Lim Yunchan's Korea National University of Arts teacher. Sohn Min-soo was also seen performing Bach Concerto for Two Pianos in C minor along with pianist Lee Hyo-joo.

In addition to Lim Yunchan and Sohn Minsoo, violinists Park Sueye, Kim Jae-young, Kim Young-uck, and clarinetist Jo Seong-ho presented Bach's music.

Lim performed in Korea after about two months after he became the youngest-ever winner of Van Cliburn International Piano Competition on June 18.

He returned to Korea shortly after the contest and held a press conference. He then left the country to attend festivals including the Aspen Music Festival and School, and the International Keyboard ODYSSIAD & Festival which was held in Colorado, USA before recently returning back to Korea.

After the concert on this day, Lim Yunchan flew to Poland to participate in the 77th duszniki International Chopin Piano Festival on August 13. Korean pianist Mun Ji-young and violinist Kim Bomsori will also be performing at the festival.

Lim Yunchan will then return to Korea and play Mendelssohn's Piano Concerto No. 1 with the KBS Symphony Orchestra at the Lotte Concert Hall on August 20. All seats for this concert has been sold out.

On August 26, he will be performing with the KBS Symphony Orchestra conducted by Chung Myung-whun at the Namhansanseong Art Hall in Gwangju, Gyeonggi province, and on August 27, he will be collaborating with the National Symphony Orchestra at the 8th Gyechon Classical Festival in Pyeongchang, Gangwon province, held by Hyundai Motor Chung Mong-koo Foundation.

On September, Lim Yunchan will be participating in concerts at California and Texas, USA once again, before collaporiting with One Korea Orchestra for Beethoven's Piano Concerto No. 5. at the Lotte COncert Hall Korea on October 5.
