SEOUL, Jan. 22 (Yonhap) — Son Heung-min (30, Tottenham), who is recovering from his injury is unlikely to join Bento's team ahead of the final qualifying round for the 2022 Qatar World Cup.

Tottenham manager Antonio Conte reported on the club's website on Saturday ahead of the away match against Chelsea in the English Premier League in the 2021-2022 season at 1:30 a.m. on Jan. 24. (KST).

First, Conte, who delivered the news of defender Eric Dier's return, also mentioned Son Heung-min's situation.

Son is rehabilitating due to a leg muscle injury after the first leg of the Carabao Cup semifinals against Chelsea on the 6th.

Conte said, "Son Heung-min cannot play yet," adding, "We have to wait more."

He then said, "Son Heung-min is recovering well," but confirmed the existing outlook for his return, saying, "We have to wait until the end of the A match break."

After the match against Chelsea, Tottenham will have a break before the fourth round of the English Football Association (FA) Cup (round of 32) against Brighton & Hove Albion F.C. on February 6. Tottenham's Premier League match will resume against Southampton on February 10.

According to Conte, it is difficult for Son to join the South Korean national team, which will play away matches in Game 7 and 8 of the final Asian qualifying round for the Qatar World Cup against Lebanon on Jan. 27 and Syria on February 1.

Paulo Bento, who leads the national team and is quenching in Turkey, said on the 17th that six overseas players, including Hwang Ui-jo (Bordeaux), Kim Min-jae (Fenerbahce), and Lee Jae-sung (Mainz), will participate in two consecutive World Cup qualifiers, adding, "We will wait and decide whether to finally select Son Heung-min."

Overseas players will enter Turkey on Jan. 24 and join the national team.
