SEOUL, Nov. 3 (Yonhap) -- As controversies over the quality of cassette tapes for boy-group BTS’s hit song “Butter” rose into issue, the band’s agency Big Hit Music has decided a full refund.
The agency has recently began shipping “Butter” cassette tapes, but there were continual complaints among some fans that their received products seem different from the sample photos, according to the music industry Wednesday.
The complaints pointed out that the tape’s cover in the sample photos is gray but the real products were distinct white and that the logos were printed in low quality.
As complaints began to snowball, the agency announced a 100% refund without returning process for the purchasers.
The agency sent individual e-mails to the purchasers on Nov. 2 afternoon to explain the situation.
“As our clients were confirmed to have received distinctly different-looking products from the photos on the market page, we have gone through an investigation through the foreign manufacturer and factory from which we imported the products. It has been confirmed that partly faulty products were produced and shipped, due to the importer and the manufacturing factory’s mistake.”
“We deeply apologize for having failed to thoroughly inspect the products before shipping as the final distributor. We are planning a 100% refund for the product’s orders without any returning process,” said the agency.
The cassette tapes in issue are reported to have been produced in America.
