SEOUL, Feb. 5 (Yonhap) -- With cases pouring out every day due to the Omicron variant, the music industry is also on alert as a series of infected cases follow one another.
Girl group fromis_9’s Lee Seo-yeon tested positive for COVID-19 on Feb. 4, according to the music industry.
The agency Pledis Entertainment explained, “Lee visited a hospital on the evening of Feb. 3 after having symptoms of fatigue and itchy throat. She took a rapid antigen test and tested positive,” adding, "She was confirmed with COVID-19 after conducting a PCR test.”
“Lee has no symptoms other than an itchy throat and mild dizziness,” added the agency.
All eight members except for Lee tested negative in the rapid antigen test.
The members went into self-isolation preventively and are waiting for the quarantine measures such as close contact determination and additional PCR tests.
“fromis_9 will not appear in KBS’ ‘Music Bank’ scheduled for today and will delay future activities including fan sign meetings,” announced the agency on Friday.
An additional confirmed case was also found in the girl group Kep1er.
“Member Choi Yu-jin and Kim Da-yeon are confirmed with COVID-19. Both of them completed the second shot of the COVID-19 vaccine,” announced Wake One·Swing Entertainment on the official fan cafe.
This is the sixth time that a Kep1er member has been confirmed. Two-thirds of all nine members were infected at least once.
Mashiro and Xiaoting tested positive for COVID-19 ahead of the group’s debut in Dec. 2021, while Kim Chae-hyun and Seo Young-eun were confirmed to be infected and went into self-isolation last month. Kim and Seo were released from quarantine the previous day.
The agency said, “All other members except for Choi Yu-jin and Kim Da-yeon have tested negative and are released from quarantine,” adding, “The members don’t show signs of infection such as fever or respiratory illness.”
The dance crew CocaNButter’s Gaga and Rihey that made themselves known through Mnet’s dance competition program “Street Woman Fighter,” have tested positive for the coronavirus on Feb. 4.
Gaga tested positive on Thursday while Rihey tested positive on Friday after receiving PCR tests.
