LOS ANGELES, Oct. 28 (Yonhap) -- A live K-pop group performance was held for the first time in Los Angeles, on the night of Oct. 26 since the COVID-19 outbreak.
The star of the "Korean Culture Night" event, organized by the Korean Cultural Center Los Angeles and professional soccer team Los Angeles FC (LAFC), was none other than K-pop rookie boy group P1 Harmony.
More than 8,000 fans filled the LAFC Christmas Tree Lane Park right outside the LAFC stadium. A group of some 150 fans set up tents at the park the day before to grab the front seats of P1 Harmony's concert. The LAFC club also prepared a more comfortable camping site in consideration of the fans' safety.
The fans tried their best to be recognized by the members of P1 Harmony. Some sang along with the K-pop group as loud as they could while others called out the Korean names of P1 Harmony's members to show their drawings of the singers.
With one hour into P1 Harmony's performance, there were also events that introduced Korean food, Hanbok, and calligraphy During their performance for about an hour, events were also held to introduce Korean food, Hanbok, and live Korean calligraphy paintings.
After its performance, P1 Harmony moved to the LAFC Stadium to sing Korea's national anthem ahead of the soccer game, and more than 22,000 visitors stood up and applauded the "Korean Culture Night" event.
Park Wi-jin, director of the Korean Cultural Center Los Angeles, announced the start of the soccer match by wearing Hanbok and releasing one falcon, a symbol of the LAFC club.
South Korean football player Kim Moon-hwan, who plays for LAFC, highlighted the event even more by picking up an assist during the match.
