SEOUL September 8 (Yonhap) -- “Despite of my long extended hiatus my fans patiently waited for me to return. I have made return for those who have patiently waited for me.”
South Korean singer Yim Jae-beum returned to the music industry with seventh full length album which mends listeners sadness and scars, after overcoming his hardships and sorrows.
“I feel like I am the one leading on to my fans.” stated singer Yim Jae-beum showing his gratitude towards his fans throughout the media showcase held in Gangnam Seoul.
Throughout the seven years of his absence singer Yim Jae-beum did not listen to music nor meet anybody. It was hard for him to see people laugh and joke around on TV, because his wife Song Nam-young passed away due to chronic illness and his father passed away in 2020 as well.
“It was just hard. Scars and wounds were deep therefore I went through repeated process of falling back down after trying to get up.” addressed Yim Jae-beum throughout the media showcase for his full length album “SEVEN,”
Yim Jae-beum’s seventh full length album “Seven, re organizing the memory” depicts what the singer has gone through, while he was in hiatus from the music industry.
The title track “Father Picture” of the seventh full length album “Seven,” is about a son who despised his dad for a long time who has returned home with his father’s portrait after the funeral.
With the line “You have waited at a cold alley way for a long time” Yim Jae-beum shows his resentment but at the same time by singing “Parting away with someone covers up all the hatred” shows his yearning for his father.
“I hated my father, however after my father passed away, as mentioned in the track, parting away covered up all the hatred.” stated Yim Jae-beum throughout the press conference.
“The Days I have Endured” is a track about saying goodbyes. Composer Yoon Sang created the hook and Yim Jae-beum came up with the second half of the melody, as a result they have created a pop ballad type of track.
“The track ‘Precious beings who we parted away’ sends a message that we will be able to meet and greet those who we have parted away in the future.” described the artist throughout the media showcase.
Throughout his track “Person Like You” singer Yim Jae-beum sings the line “If there is a reason I need to live or want to live, someone that will guide me to future is you.” which shows his love towards his daughter.
“I consider my daughter to be my friend. Therefore when I suffer with writers block, I would ask my daughter for help. Whenever I ask my daughter about suggestions, she would say ‘You are doing your best’ and cheered me up.” described Yim Jae-beum throughout the media showcase.
Title of the album “Seven,” has combined meanings, seven which represents seven years of his hiatus, and comma which shows his motivation to move forward after a long rest.
Yim Jae-beum who has returned to the music industry will kick off his solo concert starting on October 29 until 30. Since it is his first solo concert in a very long time the singer is guaranteed to feel the pressure.
“Past 7 years was too long for me to handle, and I am still quite nervous whether I have actually found returned to my previous state as a singer. However those coming to the show are there to see me therefore instead of trying too hard to be like who I was before and do my best as who I am now.” singer Yim Jae-beum addressed about his upcoming concert throughout the media showcase.
Physical album “Seven,” will include total of 13 tracks starting with the prologue track “Consolation,” online released tracks, epilogue track and two of the bonus tracks.
Lyricist Che Jung-eun who wrote the lyrics to “For You,” “Desire to Fly” and more worked on 12 of his tracks included in “Seven,” except for “Person Like You.”
Singer Yim Jae-beum debuted as a member of South Korean rock band Sinawei in 1986 was loved by his fans for his deep voice through tracks such as “For You,” “Desire to Fly,” “Confession,” and more.
“I think I am destined to sing and live my life as a singer,” adding “Despite of how often I thought of quitting everything and giving up on music, I came to a realization that the path I want to pursuit and the path I can walk through is very different.” stated Yim Jae-beum throughout the media showcase.
