SEOUL, July 22 (Yonhap) -- Hapcheon County in South Gyeongsang Province said on Wednesday it will host the "2026 Hapcheon Ghost Park Masquerade," a horror-themed summer festival, at the Hapcheon Image Theme Park from July 31 to Aug. 16.

This year's festival adopts a masquerade ball theme, allowing visitors to transform themselves into ghost hunters or festival characters at on-site costume and makeup rooms.

The festival grounds will be divided into multiple zones based on intensity, featuring psychological and exploration-style horror experiences set in locations such as a prison and an abandoned hospital.

The central Horror Stage will host ghost performances and magic shows throughout the event.

Additional attractions will include a masquerade night market.

The festival will run daily from 6 p.m. to 11:30 p.m. during its 17-day run.

More than 20,000 people from the Yeongnam region, including South Gyeongsang Province, Daegu and Busan, attended last year's festival.

Hapcheon County Mayor Kim Yoon-chul said the festival combines the unique setting of the Hapcheon Image Theme Park with horror-themed content to create a distinctive nighttime tourism event.

"We hope many visitors will enjoy a special summer night that can only be experienced in Hapcheon," he said.
