SEOUL, June 2 (Yonhap) -- The Busan Tourism Organization has been promoting Busan by participating in Hallyu events held overseas with COVID-19 becoming more eased.
According to the Busan Tourism Organization on the 1st, the first large-scale K-pop festival in Europe ever since the outbreak of COVID-19 was held at Deutsche Bank Park at the World Cup Stadium in Frankfurt, Germany on the 14th of last month.
At this event, attended by 44,000 European Hallyu fans, the Busan Tourism Organization carried out promotional marketing to inform the city of Busan, with the upcoming Busan One Asia Festival (2022 BOF) and the candidate city for the 2030 World Expo.
Before the start of the concert on 15th May, a promotional video for the Busan One Asia Festival, the largest Hallyu Festival in Asia, was introduced on the large screen of the World Cup Stadium.
"Busan," being introduced as the hometown of Ji-min and Jung-kook from BTS, also presented a vision for hosting the 2030 World Expo.
In a congratulatory speech, Koh Kyung-seok, a Consul-General of the Republic of Korea in Frankfurt sent support to the K-pop fans related to the 2030 Busan World Expo.
In order to promote the city, Busan Tourism Organization also participated in the K-Culture Festival (KCON 2022 Premier Tokyo) held in Japan by CJ ENM for two days from the 14th of last month.
This event, which was held offline in Japan in three years due to COVID-19, was held with 40,000 fans with idol groups including ENJIN, INI, J01 who has been chosen through the K-pop survival contest.
Busan Tourism Organization also had a booth set up to promote the 2022 BOF and the Busan World Expo under the theme of "Again, Together, To Busan."
Busan Tourism Organization is also promoting Busan by participating in the "2022 K-Pop Challenge Osaka" event, hosted by the Korean Cultural Center in Osaka and sponsored by the Osaka branch of the Korea Tourism Organization.
"We plan to strengthen the promotion of Busan in Japan, China and Southeast Asia to attract foreign tourists, which has sharply declined after COVID-19," said an official from the Busan Toursim Organization.
