SEOUL, Oct. 29 (Yonhap) -- Son Heung-min (29) of Tottenham will finally compete against his idol Cristiano Ronaldo (36) of Manchester United at EPL.

Son’s team, Tottenham will play a home game against Ronaldo’s team, Manchester United (Man United) for EPL 2021-2022 at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium in London, England at 1:30 a.m. on the 31st (KST).

This is the two teams’ first round for the season.

Ronaldo left Juventus (Italy) in August to return to Man United in 12 years.

Son has mentioned multiple times that Ronaldo is his idol.

“I would like to meet Ronaldo and share an honest conversation about soccer,” answered the Hotspur’s star player when asked who he would like to meet if he were given 5 minutes during “The Last Five” interview with Amazon Prime Video in January.

The Korean football star has played several matches against Ronaldo even before his return to Man United. When Ronaldo was in Real Madrid, they first met in 2017-18 UEFA Champions League group stage and met again in 2019 at the ICC (International Champions Cup).

Son has tied for 5th place marking 4 goals and 1 assist in 8 games for this year’s EPL regular league and is recording a higher attack point than Ronaldo who has made 3 goals in 6 games.

Tottenham and Man United are on the league's 6th and 7th places with 15 and 14 winning points respectively.
