SEOUL, Aug. 7 (Yonhap) -- Seoul's Gangnam district said Friday it operated a promotional pavilion with six local beauty companies at the 2026 Cosmoprof North America Las Vegas, held July 13-15 at the Mandalay Bay Convention Center in Las Vegas.
Cosmoprof North America Las Vegas is one of the world's three major Cosmoprof beauty trade shows, alongside those held in Bologna, Italy, and Hong Kong. Focused on business-to-business transactions, this year's event drew more than 950 companies from 39 countries and about 26,000 visitors, including buyers.
The district provided support for participating companies by covering exhibition booth rentals and basic booth installations, allowing them to focus on product promotion and business consultations.
The six companies held a total of 226 business meetings with overseas buyers during the event, generating consultation results valued at US$28.45 million. The figure marked an increase of US$13.94 million from the US$14.51 million recorded at the same exhibition last year.
Gangnam district's cosmetics exports reached a record high of about 2.5 trillion won (US$1.8 billion) last year, ranking first among local governments nationwide. The total represented an approximately 44 percent increase from the previous year.
"The near doubling of consultation results from last year demonstrates the competitiveness and marketability of beauty companies based in Gangnam," Gangnam District Mayor Kim Hyun-ki said. "We will continue to actively support local small and medium-sized enterprises in expanding into global markets, strengthening export competitiveness, revitalizing the local economy and creating quality jobs."
