SEOUL, Aug. 20 (Yonhap) -- K-pop superband BTS has announced preparation of a new concert after cancellation of their world tour “BTS MAP OF THE SOUL TOUR,” which has been in halt for over an year due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
“We have tried our best to resume the concert to compensate for the fans’ expectations, but due to inevitable situations, the tour cannot be held in the same size and schedule as initially planned,” announced the management agency Big Hit Music on Weverse, a fan community, Friday.
The performance was a stadium-scale world tour planned to kick off after releasing their 4th regular album “MAP OF THE SOUL: 7” in February last year.
BTS was to perform in 18 cities all over the world starting from April 2020 in Seoul then in the U.S., Japan, England, Germany, Spain and so on.
However, due to the global spread of the COVID-19 infection, all schedules for the tour were stopped in April that year. Performance in North America was postponed, Seoul performance was cancelled and schedules for Europe·Japan were stopped before the ticket sales.
“We are deeply sorry for cancelling the whole tour. We again apologize to the fans who have been waiting for the resumption of the tour,” said Big Hit Music.
“We are under preparation for a new performance feasible in schedules and forms to compensate for your anticipations. We will inform you with news as soon as possible,” added the company.
