Netflix to premiere fantasy series 'The East Palace' next month

SEOUL, June 12 (Yonhap) -- Netflix said Friday that it will premiere its new original series "The East Palace" on July 17, starring actors Nam Joo-hyuk, Cho Seung-woo and Noh Yoon-seo.

 

Set in a fictional East Asian-inspired era, "The East Palace" is a fantasy series about people who can sense or kill ghosts as they uncover secrets hidden within a cursed palace.

 

Nam plays Gucheon, a man with the ability to slay ghosts with his sword, while Noh takes on the role of Saenggang, a court lady who can hear the voices of spirits. Cho portrays the king who summons the two in an effort to lift the curse haunting the palace.

 

The series is directed by Choi Jung-kyu, known for "The Devil Judge" and "Children of Nobody." The screenplay was written by Kwon So-ra and Seo Jae-won, whose previous works include "Bulgasal: Immortal Souls" and "The Guest."
