‘Hunt’ tops Korean box office with almost 2 million admissions

SEOUL, August 16 (Yonhap) -- Director Lee Jung-jae’s debut movie “Hunt” topped Korean box office on the first week of its release, surpassing Director Kim Han-min’s movie “Hansan: Rising Dragon.”

“Hunt” ranked No.1 with 1.548 million admissions in the holiday period (Aug. 12- Aug. 15), according to the integrated network of movie tickets by the Korean Film Council on Tuesday. The cumulative audiences is about to surpass 2 million on Tuesday as it was 1.94 million on the previous day, Monday.

“Hansan,” which remained on top of Korean Box Office for two consecutive weekends, ranked No.2, accumulating 1.017 million audiences in the last four days. The total attendance is 6.156 million.

“Emergency Declaration” and first series of “Alienoid” each ranked No.3 and No.10, garnering 260,000 audiences and 14,000 audiences, respectively, on the same period.

Animation movie is also doing well. Released last week, “DC League of Super-Pets” and “Ocean Expedition Octonuts: Exploration Vessel Battle” each ranked No.5 and No.7. Four animation movies ranked in Top 10 in the Korean Box office.
