'Wife Of A Spy' wins 3 awards for AFA held at BIFF

SEOUL, Oct. 9 (Yonhap) -- “Wife Of A Spy” directed by Japanese Kurosawa Kiyoshi, has won 3 awards from the 15th Asian Film Awards (AFA).


“Wife Of A Spy” was selected for the Best Film, announced the Busan International Film Festival (BIFF) Friday. Also, the actress who played the lead role was awarded with the Best Actress award and the historical reproduction of the 1940s, just before the outbreak of the Pacific War, received the Best costume design award.

“Voice of Silence,” the debut production of director Hong Eui-jong has won 2 awards with its star actor Yoo Ah-in receiving the award for the Best actor. Yoo made attracted the audience only with gestures and facial expression without many lines.

The Best director award was given to Zhang Yimou director of the Chinese film, “One Second,” and its star actor, Liu Haocun, received the Best newcomer award.

Korean actor Kim Hyun-bin, who played the deaf boy student for Taiwanese film “The Silent Forest,” has won the Best supporting actor award and a teenage actress, Makita Aju of Japanese film, “True Mothers,” received the Best supporting actress award.

Indian film, “The Disciple,” produced by director Chaitanya Tamhane was awarded the Best screenplay and Iranian film, “The Wasteland,” produced by director Masoud Amini Tirani was awarded the Best cinematography.

Earlier Korean actor Lee Byung-hun received the Excellence in Asian Cinema award and Japanese animation “Demon Slayer: Mugen Train” won for 2020 highest-grossing Asian film.

AFA is an award ceremony since 2007 for Asian films and officials to celebrate the accomplishments of Asian films.
