SEOUL, June 12 (Yonhap) -- The stage costumes put on by K-pop juggernaut BTS will be displayed to celebrate the group’s 10th debut anniversary, organizers said Sunday.
The costumes the band had worn for its "Dynamite" performance at the 63rd Grammy Awards, previously held at the Staples Center in Los Angeles in March 2021, will be exhibited at Kensington Hotel in Seoul till June 25, according to E-Land Group.
Since a charity auction held in the U.S. in January last year, the South Korean conglomerate has been possessing the costumes. The exhibition will be open to the public free of charge.
In addition to the stage costumes of BTS, E-Land Group has reportedly collected a total of 500,000 items related to popular culture artists from all across the world over the past 30 years.
Along with the jacket Michael Jackson wore for his “Moonwalk” performance, the conglomerate owns Bob Dylan’s harmonica, Elvis Presley’s gold suit, and the costume Marilyn Monroe put on in the legendary movie “River of No Return,” as well as Audrey Hepburn’s costume in her movie “Roman Holiday.”
Meanwhile, the conglomerate also owns a number of sports-related collections, including Cy Young’s Boston Red Sox jersey, Babe Ruth’s baseball from his 500th home-run game, and Michael Jordan’s Air Jordan basketball shoes.
E-Land Group plans to display these collections to the public one after another, and build a museum in the near future to have them exhibited permanently.
