SEOUL, Feb. 16 (Yonhap) -- Tottenham Hotspur, an English professional football club with player Son Heung-min, will visit South Korea this summer.

Tottenham announced on its official website, “Our Men’s first team will travel to South Korea for a pre-season tour this July in preparation for the 2022/23 season,” on Wednesday (KST).

Tottenham, which held pre-season tours until 2019, had stopped due to the COVID-19 pandemic. The club announced its head back out on the international tours with the visit to Korea this July.

The team will play two exhibition matches in the “Coupang Play Series,” organized by sports marketing agency Pitch International and Coupang. The venues, dates, and opposition will be revealed in due course.

Tottenham is currently the club of Son, the captain of Korea’s national team, since 2015, and Cho So-hyun (34), the former captain of the national team and Korea's all-time most capped women's player, from last year.

Son said, “I am extremely excited to be returning home to South Korea this summer alongside my Spurs teammates – for most of whom this will be their first visit. I can’t wait to see their reaction to the passionate Korean fans and the incredible atmosphere in what we are sure will be packed out stadiums for our matches.”
