SEOUL, June 8 (Yonhap) -- Busan is turning into a purple-themed festival venue ahead of a pair of concerts by K-pop supergroup BTS, with welcome events and special attractions set up across the city for fans arriving from home and abroad.
According to the Busan Metropolitan Government and the Busan Tourism Organization on Monday, a series of fan-oriented events will be held at major locations, including Gimhae International Airport, Busan Station, Haeundae and Gwangalli, to coincide with BTS' world tour concert "ARIRANG in BUSAN," scheduled for this Friday and Saturday at Busan Asiad Main Stadium.
The city expects more than 100,000 visitors, including members of BTS' global fan base, ARMY, to travel to Busan for the concerts.
A photo zone welcoming ARMY visitors will be installed at Gimhae International Airport from Monday to Sunday.
At the Busan Eurasia Platform near Busan Station, a welcome center and media art wall have been operating since last Friday and will remain open through June 21.
A giant digital billboard on the exterior of Grand Josun Busan near the entrance to Haeundae Beach has also been screening BTS' latest music video daily from 10 a.m. to 10 p.m. since Friday. The display will continue through June 21.
At the Gallery Hall of The Bay 101, a fan event titled "ARMY Yard" will be held from Wednesday to Sunday.
On Friday and Saturday, a drone show featuring 1,000 drones and a synchronized lighting display on Gwangandaegyo Bridge will take place at Gwangalli Beach at 10 p.m.
Special illuminations commemorating the BTS concerts will also be displayed at landmarks including Gwangandaegyo Bridge, Nurimaru APEC House and Yongdusan Park.
From June 11-13, an evening lighting event titled "The Red Moment Busan," inspired by colors associated with BTS album concepts, will be held at Song Sang-hyeon Square.
In Busan, the hometown of BTS member Jungkook, a domestic fan club has created a 250-meter-long "Jungkook Panorama Road" along the platform area of Sports Complex Station on the city's subway network.
The Busan Tourism Organization said concertgoers who verify their ARMY membership through concert tickets, fan club membership screens or official merchandise will receive a 50 percent discount on fares for the Busan City Tour Bus and the Danubi Train at Taejongdae from Thursday to Sunday.
Foreign visitors will also receive welcome kits containing discount coupons for the Visit Busan Pass and vouchers for local festivals at major gateways, including Busan Station and Gimhae International Airport.
A Busan Tourism Organization official said the city plans to strengthen its image as a safe and transparent K-pop destination as major events, including the BTS concerts and the Busan One Asia Festival, continue throughout the year.
