‘2022 Gangneung Danoje Festival’ will show diverse entertainments including Dano experience zone, holding programs such as washing hair with water infused with ‘Changpo,’ the sweet flag, and tasting Sinju (an alcohol) and Surichi rice cake. Also, visitors can enjoy Dano citizen market, a type of a flea market, and food trucks.
In particular, visitors can see high-quality performances in different genres in this year’s Danojang.
On the 30th, the opening day, and on the 4th of next month, a firework event will be held, which will splendidly color the night of Danojang.
In addition, Sintongdaegil Gilnori, which is considered to be the essence of Korean Gilnori (street procession to the venue where a masked dance-drama is to be held, involving all the performers in the show), attracting many people every year, will be held on the 4th of next month, and ’Dano-deobi,’ a soccer match between Jeil High School and Jungang High School will be held in sports complex center on the 5th.
This year, ‘2022 Gangneung Dano-jangsa Ssireum (Korean folk wrestling style and traditional nation sport of Korea) Competition’ will be held at a specially installed stadium in the event location starting from the 31st to the 5th of next month.
Accordingly, visitors can see Gangneung Danoje, the UNESCO Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity, Nong-ak (traditional Korean music performed by farmers), and Ssireum all at the same time in this year’s Danojang.
Kim Dong-chan, the president of Gangneung Danoje committee, said on the 29th that “As we sincerely prepared the Danoje for citizens of Gangneung and visitors who will be exhausted from COVID-19, we hope you could fully enjoy the festival.”
Meanwhile, as the community health center of Gangneung city is expecting a lot of citizens and visitors to visit Danojang after social distancing was lifted, the center will thoroughly prepare for the prevention of the spread of COVID-19.
Also, in preparation for the emergency situation, paramedics and ambulances will be deployed in the event location.
