SEOUL, Sep. 24 (Yonhap) -- Boy band BTS’s global hit song “Butter” has certified double platinum from Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA).
“Butter” earned an official certification of double platinum given to music with sales of over two million units on the 15th, according to RIAA’s website on the 23rd (local time).
This is in 4 months since its release in May and BTS’s second song have earned a double platinum after “Dynamite.”
RIAA collects figures of digital download, audio and video streaming to certify digital singles.
The certifications are divided into gold (over 500,000 units), platinum (over 1 million units), double platinum (over 2 million units) and diamond (over 10 million units).
BTS, having received over RIAA platinum certifications with two albums and 5 songs, holds the most records as a Korean singer.
For digital singles division, the band earned platinum with “Mic Drop,” “IDOL” and “Boy in Luv.” For album division, they received platinum for repackage album “LOVE YOURSELF 結 'Answer” and 4th regular “MAP OF THE SOUL: 7.”
