BORYEONG, South Korea, April 3 (Yonhap) -- Boryeong City in South Chungcheong Province said Friday it will hold the Jusan Cherry Blossom Festival and the Oksan Spring Flower Festival on April 11.
Marking its 20th edition this year, the Jusan Cherry Blossom Festival will begin at 11 a.m. along the Hwasancheon stream in Hwapyeong-ri, Jusan-myeon.
A cherry blossom tunnel formed by some 2,000 king cherry trees stretching 6.7 kilometers downstream of Boryeong Dam is one of the city’s signature spring attractions.
The festival will feature traditional pungmul performances by a farmers’ band, a singing contest for residents, and celebratory performances by invited singers and youth dance clubs. Booths selling local agricultural products and offering hands-on experiences will also be set up.
Nighttime lighting installations will allow visitors to enjoy the cherry blossoms both day and night, while food stalls and a night market will open starting April 10.
From 1 p.m., the Oksan Spring Flower Festival will take place in the Oksan Mountain area, offering programs such as pungmul performances, a barefoot walk along a red clay trail, acoustic guitar performances and other celebratory events, along with various experience booths.
"We hope visitors will come to Boryeong, where flowers are in full bloom, and fully enjoy the spring season," a city official said.
