SEOUL, Nov. 1 (Yonhap) -- As Korea has started “Living with COVID-19” scheme to restore normal life, palace Joseon tomb cultural asset exhibition facilities will resume their exhibitions and programs.
Palace and Joseon tomb’s indoor-exhibition facilities where visits were limited due to the quarantine guidelines will fully resume services starting from Nov. 1, the Cultural Heritage Administration announced.
History and culture centers located at 8 Joseon royal tombs – Donggureung Cluster in Guri, Gwangneung Cluster, Hongreung·Yereung Cluster and Sareung Cluster in Namyangju, Taereung Cluster, Seongleung Cluster and Jeongneung Clsuter in Seoul and Yunggeolleung Cluster in Hwaseong – will finish their 1 year and 8 months of repairing and soon reopen. Visitors can enjoy various life-size models, exhibition videos and tangible contents.
Seogjojeon and Jungmyeongjeon of Deoksugung and the Grand Greenhouse of Changgyeonggung will greet the visitors again.
But, most exhibition facilities for palaces and royal tombs except for Gyeongbokgung Palace and Jongmyo Shrine are closed on Mondays so it can be technically said that visits are allowed from Nov. 2.
National Palace Museum of Korea, National Intangible Heritage Center in Jeonju, MokpoTaean Maritime Musuem, operated by the Cultural Heritage Administration, have lifted reservation-for-visit system allowing the public to freely enjoy their exhibitions.
Furthermore, guiding services through the palaces, tombs and assets will restart as well.
“Number of visitors available in indoor-exhibition facilities has been partially limited according to the social distancing level. Although we have put away the reservation system, visits can be restricted when there are too many people and checking of visitors such as for phones will be done as we used to,” said an official from the Cultural Heritage Administration.
