SEOUL, Sept. 22 (Yonhap) -- BTS is drawing strong interest across Latin America ahead of its tour next month, with host cities preparing for large crowds, its agency BigHit Music said Tuesday.

 

Visit Bogota, the official tourism website of Colombia's capital and the starting point of the Latin American tour, has highlighted the BTS concert as a major cultural event, describing the group as "one of the leading groups representing global pop in the 21st century" and spotlighting its global influence.

 

In La Plata, Argentina, the city and provincial governments are jointly preparing an operating plan ahead of concerts scheduled for Oct. 21, 23 and 24. Local media outlet El Dia estimated that more than 150,000 people would visit the city for the concerts, citing figures released by the La Plata municipal government.

 

The La Plata City Council also designated BTS as "honorary foreign guests" in July.

 

In Lima, Peru, programs including dance covers and video screenings have been held at the Magic Water Circuit ahead of BTS' visit.

 

Chile's official tourism promotion website, Chile Travel, has also listed BTS' Santiago concert as a major cultural and tourism event.

 

Starting with Bogota on Oct. 2, BTS will perform 14 shows across five cities in Latin America: Lima, Santiago, Buenos Aires and Sao Paulo.
