SEOUL, Aug. 21 (Yonhap) -- Actress Moon Geun-young will return to the big screen as a lead in director Yeon Sang-ho's new film "Yeto," nine years after her last starring role, distributor Showbox said Friday.
"Yeto" follows influencer sisters Sua and Mina after they go camping and Mina disappears at the former site of a cult.
Moon will play Sua, an older sister who puts her life with her younger sister on display. It will be her first leading film role since "Glass Garden" (2017).
Kim Si-a, known for the films "Miss Baek" (2017) and "Kill Boksoon" (2023), will play Mina.
Actress Go Ah-sung will also star as Deok-hee, a mysterious figure the sisters encounter.
Yeon and director Yoon Young-woo are co-directing the film. Yoon is a newcomer who worked closely with Yeon for years as an assistant director on series including "Parasyte: The Grey" and "Hellbound."
Filming has been completed and the film is currently in post-production.
"It is one of the most original works I've made, combining distinctive visual effects with drama," Yeon said. "I was amazed during filming by the explosive performances of Moon Geun-young, Go Ah-sung and Kim Si-a, who each took on unique characters."
The director added, "This is a film that requires quite extensive post-production work. I will do my best with the remaining work to make it a film of the highest quality."
