SEOUL, July 22 (Yonhap) -- The 2026 Gyeongpo Summer Festival will take place for seven days from July 30 to Aug. 5 at Gyeongpo Beach in Gangneung, Gangwon Province, offering a mix of concerts, water activities and interactive beach events.
This year's festival will center on a special stage at Gyeongpo Beach featuring themed performances by popular artists and EDM parties, while the central plaza and beachfront will host a variety of hands-on activities for visitors.
Major programs include the "Gyeongpo 7 Days Concert" featuring hip-hop and R&B performances, DJ and EDM parties, unique summer competitions and a giant prize-draw game.
Visitors can also take part in interactive activities that make use of the beach's natural setting, including mission games on a floating bridge, a 100-second challenge and team relay competitions on the sand.
A new attraction this year is "Water Festa Day," a water-themed program designed to help residents and tourists beat the summer heat while enjoying the festival.
Scheduled for Aug. 2, the event will feature a full day of water activities.
The central plaza will host a large-scale water gun battle called "Gyeongpo Battle," while the floating bridge will offer marine-themed challenges and mission games.
Beginning at 7 p.m., a water-themed performance and EDM party will light up the beach.
The festival site will also feature a main photo zone and various attractions designed to create memorable experiences for visitors.
A pine grove area will include a play zone with mini-games and a picnic area where visitors can relax.
In addition, a beer garden serving craft beer and local food will operate in the pine grove on July 31 and Aug. 1.
Bae Gwang-sik, head of Gangneung's tourism policy division, said "Water Festa Day," first introduced last year to symbolize overcoming drought, has been expanded into a special program where residents and tourists can cool off and fully enjoy the summer season.
